Have you ever considered if you are truly the author of your own life story? It’s easy to feel like we’re just going with the flow, reacting to what’s going on instead of leading our own journey. Life can sometimes feel like it’s unfolding without our control, with events and decisions happening beyond our influence. This can lead to feelings of being out of control, which can result in frustration and unhappiness, making a person feel like an observer in their own life.

What if I said you can transform that? Within you lies a director’s chair, a writer’s pen, and a stage where you can shine as the star of your own life. Now is the moment to embrace your leading role and craft the path of your life’s purpose.

Reflecting on this can be transformative, empowering you to make purposeful choices and live a more meaningful and satisfying life.

Rewriting the Script:

Life can sometimes feel like a movie directed by someone else, where we play roles influenced by our habits, beliefs, and fears that have formed over time. These factors can serve as old programming in our minds, hindering our progress and creating challenges in our lives.

Sometimes, we can feel stuck in a story that doesn’t really show who we are or what we want. The wonderful part is that we can create our own narrative. By noticing these limiting patterns, we can start to question and change them. This helps us to accept a more genuine version of ourselves.

Free Resources:

Changing our life story doesn’t have to be expensive or require hard to find resources. The resources for change are typically readily available and free. Simple activities such as grounding, mindfulness, self reflection, affirmations, meditation, and self-hypnosis can assist you in reshaping your story.

By carefully examining your thoughts and emotions, you can identify old beliefs and exchange them for more positive ones. This process of self discovery and change is not only attainable but also incredibly rewarding, enabling you to align your life with your true goals and values.

Releasing Old Programming:

Our minds are like a computer system that can gather outdated beliefs and negative thought patterns. This can hinder clear thinking and affect our decision making. Regular mental decluttering and clearing out negative beliefs can improve our thought processes, similar to how a computer needs regular updates and maintenance.

Upgrading Our Mental System:

To keep our minds functioning at their best, we need to update our mental operating system to become the author of our existence. This means we should actively look for and remove old beliefs that no longer serve us. By replacing them with new, positive thoughts and perspectives, we can enhance our mental clarity and overall happiness. Just like a computer runs better with the latest software, our minds will thrive when we consciously decide to embrace positive habits and beliefs that align with our goals and dreams. Accepting this upgrade can result in a more fulfilling and happy lives.

Techniques to Reprogramming Our Mind:

Grounding

Grounding is a helpful technique that can assist in reconnecting with the present moment, particularly during times of anxiety or feeling overwhelmed. By engaging our physical senses, we can reassure our mind of our current safety and security. One popular method for achieving this is the “5-4-3-2-1” technique, which prompts us to identify:

  • Five things that we can see.
  • Four things that we can touch.
  • Three sounds that we can hear.
  • Two scents that we can smell.
  • One taste that we can experience.

This exercise helps to centre our thoughts and heightens our awareness of our surroundings, making it easier to release any over whelming emotions.

Emergency Grounding:

During a meltdown, it can be difficult to recall a complex five step calming ritual. However, simpler methods can help ground us in overwhelming moments. Holding root chakra crystals can be calming as they help to ground our energy. Additionally, deep breathing works well too. By inhaling deeply and exhaling slowly, you can clear the mind and refocus on the present. Another discreet grounding technique involves forming an “O” shape with your thumbs and middle fingers. This can also be done with hands in pockets for comfort without attracting any attention.

Morning Grounding Ritual:

Establishing a morning grounding ritual for starting the day on a positive note. This routine may include activities like meditation, deep breathing, or gentle stretching to centre your mind and body. By participating in these calming practices, you can cultivate a sense of inner peace and clarity, preparing yourself for the challenges of the day ahead.

One of my favourite morning grounding rituals, especially in the warmer months, is to go outside barefoot and connect directly with the earth beneath me. I visualise my feet turning into roots that travels deep into the ground, connecting with the crystal grid below. This visualisation helps me feel a strong connection to the earth, and I gently tug at these imaginary roots to ground and stabilise my energy. Then, I express my gratitude to Mother Gaia for her nurturing presence and the wisdom she provides. This practice strengthens my sense of connection and rejuvenates my root chakra, giving me a feeling of balance and stability of being the author of my day.

The first panel features a collection of crystals associated with the root chakra for grounding. The second panel showcases a man practicing holding his thumbs and middle fingers together to form an "O". The final panel displays a serene woman standing barefoot on grass, her eyes closed and with the bottom of her feet extending deep roots into the earth, intertwining with the earth's crystal grid.

Mindfulness and Self Awareness:

Mindfulness and self awareness are practices that encourage us to focus on the present moment. By doing this we develop a more in depth understanding of our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. By engaging in mindfulness, we also learn to observe our experiences without judgment, allowing us to develop a sense of calm and clarity.

Mindfulness:

Mindfulness is the practice of simply paying attention to one’s surroundings, sometimes adding other techniques like deep breathing and meditation.

By increasing our mindfulness, we can develop a greater understanding of our emotional reactions and thought processes. This can result in enhanced mental health and overall well-being. Being mindful also equips us to better handle stress and make more considered choices in our daily activities.

Self Awareness:

Self-awareness involves reflecting on how our behaviour and emotions affect our experiences and relationships. It also involves a conscious examination of one’s strengths, weaknesses, values, and motivations. By developing self awareness, we can identify areas for personal growth and work towards becoming the best version of ourselves.

This journey often requires honest self reflection and a willingness to confront uncomfortable truths. Mindfulness and self awareness are key for personal growth, helping us live better lives and have healthier relationships.

Affirmations:

Affirmations act as powerful tools that remind us of the qualities and strengths we wish to embody. Instead of dwelling on self doubt or feelings of inadequacy, it is helpful to affirm positive statements about ourselves.

For instance, telling ones self that “I am capable, strong, and deserving” can shift our mindset and boost our confidence. One affirmation that strikes a chord with many, myself included, is the concept of being “I am loving, lovable, and loved.” By embracing positive affirmations, we can develop a more optimistic self image and nurture a sense of inner strength.

To truly harness the power of affirmations, it’s best to practice them daily. This can be done by repeating them aloud or writing them down in a journal. By vocalising or writing these affirmations reinforces their meaning and helps to reshape your mindset over time. By making this a regular part of your routine, you can gradually replace negative thoughts with empowering beliefs, leading to a more positive outlook on life. Remember, the journey to self-acceptance and confidence is ongoing, and affirmations can be a vital part of that process.

Author Your Life by Using Affirmations:

Affirmations are a powerful method for overcoming fears.  The popular saying in the spiritual community is the saying “where attention goes, energy flows” which aligns with the principles of the ‘Law of Attraction’.

I have personally experimented with this concept numerous times and my latest one is quite recent.  Due to the housing crisis in my country, I found myself living in a rough neighbourhood for just over two years. My rental home was frequently targeted by break ins, causing me to go from a confident, strong woman to someone who was constantly on edge, anxious, and sleep deprived.

At my breaking point, I turned to printing out affirmations with beautiful designs and large fonts, then sticking them to my walls with blue tack. I strategically placed each affirmation in locations where I would see them multiple times a day. As a result, I began to sleep better, regain my strength, and eventually manifest a new rental in a safe coastal town through the power of positive affirmations.

Meditation and Self Hypnosis:

Meditation and self hypnosis have a lot in common regarding their methods and advantages. By creating a peaceful environment and wearing headphones enhances relaxation and focus, essential for achieving desired results in your practices.
Stay safe by avoiding these techniques around sharp objects, while driving, or operating machinery to prevent any accidents or injuries.

Meditation

Meditation serves as a powerful tool for achieving mental clarity. It’s often misunderstood as a practice aimed at silencing the mind. In reality, meditation encourages a person to observe their thoughts without passing judgement on them.

This practice is about creating awareness and acceptance of your thoughts rather than striving for an empty mind. If you spend just five minutes a day meditating, you can really reduce stress and improve your ability to stay focused on the present. Investing a little time in mindfulness can help you stay calm and focused, making it easier to handle daily challenges.

Self Hypnosis:

Self hypnosis is a technique that allows a person to enter a deeply relaxed state, with the help of guided instructions. This practice can be incredibly beneficial for all aspects of life, by anchoring suggestions into the subconscious mind.

Self Hypnosis is good for:

  • Healing from heartbreak or loss: Self-hypnosis can help a person to process their emotions and find closure after a breakup or the death of a loved one.
  • Overcoming personal obstacles: By using self hypnosis techniques, people can identify and address mental barriers that may be holding them back. This enabling them to tackle challenges with a renewed sense of determination.
  • Boosting self confidence: Engaging in self hypnosis can reinforce positive self image and self worth. Helping a person to believe in their abilities and approach situations with greater determination.
  • Breaking free from addictive behaviours: Self hypnosis can be a powerful tool for those looking to overcome addictions. By reprogramming the subconscious mind and reduce cravings or urges associated with harmful habits.
  • Enhancing overall health: Practicing self hypnosis can lead to improved physical health by promoting relaxation, reducing stress, and encouraging healthier lifestyle choices.
  • Instilling positive affirmations: By using self hypnosis, a person can successfully add positive affirmations to their everyday thinking. This helps create a more positive attitude and promotes personal development.
  • Managing anxiety and stress: Self-hypnosis techniques can help a person to learn to relax and manage their anxiety levels. By providing them with coping strategies to deal with stressful situations.
  • Improving sleep quality: Self hypnosis can help improve sleep quality by calming the mind and body, leading to better rest and overall health.
